I'm looking for software that can help me answer some questions periodically. I'd love to be able to do it on my phone, just open an app, get a question (one I entered when I set it up) answer it, get the next question etc. Then save it all in an accessible way, for instance in a spreadsheet. One option would probably be to use a google form, but I'm trying to stay away from google as much as possible. Open source would be best of course.
It would be great if I can get set it up to for example only get question 2 if you answered "yes" at question 1.
Any ideas?

Thank you so much! It'll go on my list of things to get sorted when I finally made time to get my server online 😅

yeah I know... I have a long list too... I think peertube is next up for me 😀

I just saw this TEDx and thought it was very interesting. I wonder what you all think of it:
https://www.ted.com/talks/brett_hennig_what_if_we_replaced_politicians_with_randomly_selected_people

I think it's a very interesting idea. I do wonder whether it would help with regards to the fundamental problems we see in democracy. Would lobbying be stopped by this? I don't see how... Would this stop corruption? Again, I don't see how.
But it would cut out the lies, and the vast sums of money burned in campaigns. And it would end the party systems that divide people, because you don't need to be backed by a party to have a shot to enter parliament.

But how would it work? How will it affect people's careers? How long should a term be? How do you pick a cabinet in such a system?
How large does parliament need to be to get good representation for minority groups?

I think it would be very helpful if the EU had a people's commission like this, don't you think?

@Hyp☀️li🌷e Pet🌸van Voting is the only thing that does matter. You can't put someone in office or take them out of office without someone voting (exception: federal judges). Moreover, you can't change the U.S. Constitution without some kind of voting. If you choose to remove yourself from that process, I'm not going to stop you. But if you want things to change, then you'll need to hunker down and figure out how to move your generation to action.

I disagree with sortition, but hey, if you can get two-thirds of the state legislatures to agree to call an Article V convention, then perhaps you will have a shot at amending the constitution to replace the method of selecting the House of Representatives with random selection.

If you are serious about the idea, you may want to start smaller and prove that it actually works well in your own state first.

I wish you the best of luck.

I don't think your last comment is completely fair. Yes the post was originally about sortition, but the discission was not about whether enough people would be open to it, but whether it would be an improvement on the flawed system in the US, which you said was a great system. Sorry to break it to you, but it is not great. It is a mess, very sensitive to gerrymandering, corruption, lack of political engagement etc.

I don't think anyone in this conversation is actually convinced about the merits of sortition, but personally I do believe it would result in fairer representation than your current system does. But fair representation isn't everything either.

But I hope we can all agree some adjustments could be made to improve the US election system. The two most important of which would be to have strict laws on campaign funding and a single transferable vote instead of first past the post.

For the record, some adjustments that bring improvement could be made everywhere (but not every country claims to be the best democracy in the world 😉 and some of them... Show more...

Aah, first #trollplay episode I listened to 'on schedule' after #binge listening the entire show last week, and it turns out it's the last one of the season!

I used to be a 911 dispatcher. I had to respond to racist calls every day.
The viral police call on a black family barbecuing in Oakland was an everyday occurrence.

@splendorsolis@diaspora.xpr.pl, I thought I heard that onion was bad for "black holes"! ;)

@Lil' Beanie It's true. "Black hole" just used to try everything when it was young ;)

Fake news, Noam, fake news! 😆

Fake news or Fox news? 😉

Aren't those basically synonymous? 😉

These sharks have a hidden life that's becoming a lot less hidden, thanks to a scientific expedition that was years in the making.

Next week the EU will vote on solutions to help solve the problems of plastics in our environment. Here's a petition for a EU wide tax on plastics for producers, giving them more of a financial incentive to switch to more eco-friendly alternatives. (Even if producers just increase their prices this will help make the real societal cost of products slightly more realistic)

It isn’t easy for a man to rip a screaming child away from his mother. Most of us couldn’t do it. This is where “animals” comes in. Declare he isn’t really a child, she isn’t a woman. Now it’s like pulling a piglet from a sow. This has always been how states enable savagery.

Donating money and placing it in trusts is for tax purposes don't kid yourself. You wanna fix this mess? Flat tax for everyone no loopholes.

Not just for tax purposes, Bill Gates is actively trying to steer education policy the way he thinks he should be done, exactly like a politician except without public oversight at all.

Question time again 😉
I really liked how with chrome I could save a web page like an app through the save to home screen option. When I do the same thing in Brave, Firefox, the standard browser or Fennec, I don't get the same look, I still see the URL bar. Does anyone know if there's a way to get rid of that?
#helpwanted #foss #browser #brave #pwa #app #chrome #degoogle

Ah, okay. I was just presuming you'd be using Android (as in: Android, but not a derivative) because you said you were looking for something that runs on Android.

I know 😀 and it is a very good suggestion

I might try this on for Diaspora or MediaGoblin on my laptop.

Successfully installed #Linux #Mint on my retired laptop 😎 I like it. Maybe I should install it on the second drive of my current laptop too, in a while. Very nice first real experience with Linux, as the whole process was very user friendly.

What's the exact make/model of the laptop? That's a shame about the soft switch.

Medion Akyoka P6624
Its such a silly issue. It's so strange to me the BIOS doesn't have an option to just enable it.
But my new current laptop is of a different brand and doesn't have such a switch, so I probably won't have the same issue if I decide to install linux on there.

That's the spirit!
